There’s a new buzz brewing at Masonic Care WA’s Forest Lakes Village. On 5th November, residents came together to celebrate the grand opening of the Latte Lounge, a newly refurbished coffee shop designed to bring warmth, connection, and great coffee to the heart of the village.
The initiative, led by Village Manager Alison, has transformed what was once a little-used space into a welcoming retreat where residents, visitors, and contractors alike can enjoy a quality coffee and a friendly chat.

“The idea was to create a true coffee shop atmosphere right here in the village,” Alison shared. “Somewhere cosy, inviting, and full of life, where people can come together without needing to leave the village.”
The Latte Lounge has come a long way from its beginnings. Originally known as the Koffee Shop when it opened around 2009, it was once a lively gathering spot for residents. Over time, however, the space lost its purpose and became more of a storeroom than a social hub. That all changed with Alison’s vision to bring it back to life.
Now freshly painted, with new flooring, cabinetry, and a feature wall of coffee-themed wallpaper (a personal touch by Alison herself), the space exudes charm and warmth. Comfortable seating, pendant lighting, and coffee-inspired artwork set the perfect backdrop for a relaxing cup of coffee. Residents can even browse books and jigsaws in the cosy reading corner while they sip.
Adding to the modern touch, the Latte Lounge features a state-of-the-art touchscreen coffee machine that serves delicious coffee for just $3. The machine operates by coin, and every dollar goes directly into the village’s Social Committee bank account. These funds help to restock supplies and support community initiatives, including monthly dinners for residents.
The opening was well attended by residents, including some who were there at the original launch over a decade ago, such as Pam, Lyn, Roberta, and Norma. It was a special full-circle moment for many.
The Latte Lounge promises to be more than just a place to grab a coffee. It is a space designed to spark connection, encourage conversation, and offer residents a cosy corner to unwind or catch up with friends within their own community.
Here’s to new beginnings, shared moments, and many great cups of coffee at Forest Lakes.
