We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Alison Brockett, our dedicated Village Manager at Forest Lakes Village, has been named the winner of the prestigious WA Village Manager of the Year award in the National Retirement Living Awards for 2026.
Presented by the Property Council of Australia, this award recognises exceptional leadership and a personal commitment to creating a successful, happy, and harmonious village environment. As per the award criteria, the winner must demonstrate the capability to respond to resident concerns, implement effective business practices, and foster deep connections within their community—exactly what Alison does every day at Forest Lakes.
Alison Embodies Our Values
Alison is celebrated for her warm, approachable nature and the genuine relationships she builds with both residents and colleagues. Her personable manner, professionalism, and empathy have earned her deep respect across our local WA community. She consistently goes above and beyond to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Her dedication aligns perfectly with Masonic Care WA’s mission: to enhance the lives of older people in Western Australia through connection, care, and dignity. By effectively managing team operations and fostering a positive culture, Alison has set a benchmark for leadership that lifts everyone around her.
Celebrating Our Community Team
The win was celebrated with pride by our Retirement Living senior team at presentation held last week. Executive Manager Accommodation Services, Diana Smith, attended to support Alison alongside fellow colleagues; Manager of Retirement Living, Emma Benjamin—who won the award in 2024—and Karen Huyton, Manager of Village Administration.

Reflecting on the achievement, CEO Marie-Louise MacDonald highlighted the seamless transition from regional to national success:
“We are so proud for Diana’s team as Alison represents how they all operate. The next step is the national finals, which we will all be crossing fingers, arms and legs for!! Over the years, there have been two other Masonic Care WA finalists nationally; let’s hope we turn this around in 2026.”
(Note: In the context of the awards journey, Alison has already progressed from her regional win to become a National Finalist. We look forward to seeing her represented at the final stage.)
Building on a History of Excellence
This achievement marks another high point for Masonic Care WA’s legacy of excellence in retirement living. We are incredibly proud to build upon a strong history of winners who have demonstrated the same level of care and commitment; in 2015 and 2017, we celebrated Jemma Viney, and Emma Benjamin in 2024 for winning this award.
Alison now joins this group as the latest WA recipient, proving that at Masonic Care WA, we don’t just look for managers – we cultivate leaders who care deeply about their residents and community. Each of these winners represents the very best of what retirement living in WA can be, through dedication to the various domains of management capability set by the Property Council, including operations, governance, and community engagement.
Join Us in Celebrating Alison
We believe that great villages start with great people like Alison. We are cheering her on as she prepares to represent Western Australia among the national finalists.
